Fred Singer - Anystream CEO
Fred Singer is an internet pioneer and part of a small class of successful executives who have played roles in shaping the first and second phases of the Internet revolution. He has had an uncanny ability to be at the vortex of the big innovation waves playing a broad set of roles ranging from CEO, executive, entrepreneur, advisor, board member and investor.
Mr. Singer has not been afraid to go against prevailing wisdom. He jumped into online media and advertising as it was just emerging in the early 1990's, tapped into the hyper-growth of narrowband online services with America Online and decided to reinvest during the Internet crash by focusing on opportunities created by the early launch of broadband networks in Japan and China. Today he is invested in Internet video, behavioral advertising, content creation and social communities.
Mr. Singer has worked with Softbank Corporation since 2003 as a Senior Advisor to Masayoshi Son, President and CEO of Softbank Corporation in Japan. His role has allowed him to work with many of the worldwide top leaders in the media and Internet industry including Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, DoubleClick and News Corp to name a few. He has also remained active in the U.S. and Asian technology markets as a Venture Partner at Softbank Capital Partners helping many of their portfolio companies scale their operations.
Previously, Mr. Singer worked in a variety of leading operating roles as a Senior Vice President at America Online where his primary focus was on turnarounds and content companies. During his six year tenure at AOL, some of his roles included COO, AOL Studios/Interactive Services (Content), COO, ICQ (Instant Messaging) and SVP of emerging products. He started his career with the Washington Post Company in 1992 where he was a founder of the Washington Post Online Service (now WashingtonPost.com). He was also formerly a Strategy Consultant at Bain & Company in Boston.
Mr. Singer is currently serving or has served on the boards of DoubleClick, Motley Fool Company, iReit, Claria, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (International Committee), Queens School of Business, and Upper Canada College. He has also been active with Sunderam Tagore Art Gallery in New York City and Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he has funded pioneering work on Autism Spectrum Disorders. He has an MBA from Harvard and a LLB, MA Philosophy, BA Philosophy with Distinction and B. Commerce with Honours from Queen's University in Canada.
Geoff Allen - Anystream Chairman and Founder
Geoff Allen has over 15 years experience in high-technology sales and marketing, product development and business operations. Prior to founding Anystream, Allen was the general manager of Enterprise Solutions for the Anystream development group at Integrated Computing Engines, Inc. He has an extensive background in Internet cutting-edge video applications, previously serving as chief technology officer of iXL's Washington D.C. office. He founded and served as president and chief executive officer of Axicom, a developer of digital video advertising insertion systems, and Source Digital, a systems integrator focused on digital video production systems.
Allen is a member of the Young Entrepreneur's Organization (YEO) and currently serves as the vice president of technology for YEO's International Board. Allen attended George Mason University's computer science program and the Birthing of Giants Entrepreneurial Management Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Steven Geyer - Anystream Founder, Senior Vice President of Technology
Steven Geyer has over 20 years experience in the design and development of complex software and hardware systems. His experience spans parallel and distributed architectures, high-speed networking, client-server architectures, database exploitation and artificial intelligence. Geyer has served as an independent developer on a variety of projects, including the architectural design of a TV-based Web delivery system, autonomy and collaboration technologies for NASA's space flight program and a high-performance, distributed computing environment to detect fraudulent billing practices in a 300 million record database. Geyer also served as a senior software developer for MRJ Technology Solutions where he was the technical lead for a fault-tolerant, distributed digital video-on-demand architecture.
Geyer received a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in computer science from the University of Illinois.
Bill Holding - President & General Manager
Bill Holding has over 20 years business development and marketing experience for digital media and technology companies. Prior to joining Anystream, he was vice president of strategic marketing and international for Into Networks, a leading provider of content delivery solutions for broadband service providers. There, he was responsible for driving the company’s go-to-market strategy, as well as developing relationships with broadband and entertainment companies in Europe. Prior to that, Holding served as director of business development at Avid Technology, where he developed strategic partnerships with Apple and Intel and was instrumental in creating a new division providing video solutions for corporate and consumer markets. Holding also has held various roles at Microsoft and Young & Rubicam focused on marketing and new product development.
Holding has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, an M.St. in modern history from Oxford University, and a BA in history from Emory University.
Tony Abate - Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development
Tony Abate brings 21 years of experience in the technology, digital media and converged services fields, serving in product management, senior executive, investment and advisory roles. As an investor at Battery Ventures and Whitney & Co, Abate served on the board of several venture backed start-ups creating entirely new markets from the digital and Internet revolutions. His seasoned guidance on how to profitably scale in nascent markets helped companies like Homestore; Usinternetworking; NBX; RelevantKnowledge; and Cbeyond Communications go from concept to a successful IPO or exit. As a consultant at McKinsey & Co and Mercator Partners, Abate advised both leading publicly traded companies and venture-backed start-ups on how best to exploit the ensuing business opportunities of digitization and convergence. As an officer in the US Air Force, Abate developed an advanced computer platform for the then classified stealth aircraft program.
Tony holds a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Duke University (summa cum laude) and an MBA from Harvard Business School with honors.
Kevin McCartney - Senior Vice President of Sales
Kevin McCartney has over 14-years sales and sales management experience in enterprise software and hardware solutions, primarily focused in the telecommunications and data communications industries. Mr. McCartney has a proven track-record in successfully selling complex solutions to the world's leading communications service providers. Prior to joining Anystream Mr. McCartney served as Director, Sales, at Spirent Communications, a provider of performance and service management solutions. Mr. McCartney's professional accomplishments include sales program management resulting in a 250% increase in sales, as well as cultivating new market segments. McCartney will chart the enterprise sales strategies that will enable Anystream's worldwide direct and reseller channel sales-force to capitalize on explosive demand for automated digital media publishing solutions.
McCartney earned a bachelor's of science degree in finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University.
Fady Lamaa - Vice President of Business Development
Fady Lamaa has over 16 years experience in high-tech product marketing, management and development including 12 years experience in the digital media industry. Lamaa has led Anystream's product marketing and management efforts since the company's inception, directing all aspects of the market launches of Agility software products and managing the product line's evolution to maintain a market-leading position. Lamaa also directs Anystream strategic technology partner relations with leading broadcast and digital media production suppliers. Prior to Anystream, Lamaa was director of product marketing for Integrated Computing Engines, a provider of hardware and software solutions for high-performance visual effects, and served in marketing and technical roles for Avid Technologies, the leading provider of digital non-linear editing technologies, and Avid Sports - a subsidiary marketing to the professional and collegiate sports market.
Lamaa received a bachelor's of science degree in computer science and master's of science degree from Purdue University, and attended Babson College's MBA program.
Russell Zack - Vice President, Product Management
Russell Zack is responsible for the strategic direction and definition of Anystream media related products. Zack was the COO of Cauldron Solutions where he was responsible for the overall management of the company. Before co-founding Cauldron, he built several technology companies focused on large vertical industries such as automotive, media and entertainment and telecommunications. Previous industry-related experience includes his time spent as president and CEO of DragonFly Mobile Inc, a mobile data optimization and application company he founded in 2000. Russell also co-founded the interactive media company, Sigma6, in 1994. He holds a BA/BS degree in Digital Multi-Media from the University of Michigan.
Bhavan Shah - Vice President, Engineering & Technology
Bhavan Shah holds more than 15 years experience designing and architecting complex, enterprise software solutions. Shah is the former CTO of Cauldron Solutions, where he served as the technology visionary. Prior to joining Cauldron, Bhavan spent five years at Wavexpress where he was responsible for the company's technology strategy, architecture, product planning and development, technical management, intellectual property, out-sourcing and IT operations. He previously spent four years as Chief Software Architect at Toshiba America Consumer Products working on interactive digital television. Previously, he worked at Intel and Indian Space Research Organization. Bhavan earned a Master of Science in computer engineering from the University of Arizona. His additional educational experience includes a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Gujarat University in India.
